Is Dunelm's website just impossible to use?

Sorry for posting here, can't find a specific 'Shops' forum. (please move if needs be). But I have been trying to buy some furniture from Dunelm for the past couple of days and can't get any further than the 'Pay Now' screen. It just seems to freeze there. It's really my only option for buying the things I need, and I'm starting to get really pissed off. Judging from an 'Outage' site I found, it seems to be a common problem with them. Don't they want people's custom?

My first question is have you deleted your browser cookies and rebooted your phone/computer? Most glitches are resolved by doing both.

My second question (if first doesn't help) is how close are you to a store? Some staff are willing to order off their store computers on your behalf.

Yes as I tried buying online and it wouldn't go through. Phoned them and they were out of stock. Didn't say that on the website. Good idea to call them and ask what's the situation.

Tried deleting cookies and that didn't work.

Ordered similar furniture from Argos last week, they took my payment, then emailed a couple of days later to say sorry but they didn't deliver those things outside of mainland GB! And now this crap. Aaaagghhh.

Recently placed my first and last home delivery order with Dunelm. The website did work fine. But when it came to deliver my items, they said would notify me an hour before. They didn't. I was out but got home and they were outside in their van and drove off after seeing me get out of car! I called them and he said it was them and he couldn't come back!! So called and complained, someone was supposed to call me back to arrange another delivery date. They didn't. Got a text at 9pm saying will deliver it the next between 9-3. Well I was at work all day so ended up cancelling it altogether. Then took 6 weeks for to receive the refund. Will never do another order for delivery with them again. So watch out

Outside mainland GB? Where are you?

DistinguishedSocialCommenator · 10/02/2024 17:55

Like most smaller sites it works good most of the time,

Northern Ireland I would have thought.

Where are you trying to get delivery to? Most UK shops don't deliver outside the mainland unfortunately and the website probably recognises that, which will have caused the glitch. Should just tell you what the problem is, but hey, it's the internet!! 💁

Just to be pedantic but Great Britain doesn’t include Northern Ireland, but United Kingdom does

Yes N Ireland sorry. It's a bit patchy - some of their items they deliver to NI and some they don't. Same with Argos. You need to painstakingly check each item on their website to see which have exclusions.

But I've had a few largish things (incl a sofa) delivered from both companies before. Well, until Dunelm's website starting arsing about.
