Sorry for this post if its not allowed or been discussed before but i'm a mess just now and don't know what i'm doing.

My husband has just left me after being together for 25 yrs, 5 weeks ago he moved out and said he doesn't love me anymore, we have 2 children aged 9 & 13. He works full time and i work from home as a child minder, (so not that great a wage)
I live in Scotland in a mortgage house and my question is what benefits can i apply for or entitled too as a single parent.?

I've never had to apply for any benefits or tax credited etc and not got a clue where to start?

Hi. Have a look on the Citizens advice bureau website, check its for Scotland. You will get advice on what you can claim. You can also make an appt at your local bureau to discuss your entitlements. They will do a benefits check for you, or you can check yourself at the Entitled 2 website.
It's not easy having to start over and organise especially with kids, but you will get through this. Keeping busy is the key. Citizens advice can assist in filling out forms for you also so you don't have to feel overwhelmed.
