I've finally left my stressful job

Last day was today and I feel like a new woman.

I have a week off and then start my new job after that.

Can't decide whether to have some wine or just go to bed and sleep for about 48 hours.

I had no idea how stressed I was until I made it to the end of today. Can finally breathe and feel like a human again

Glass of wine in bed?

Do this! 😁

Dottina · 09/02/2024 21:06

😂 I might have a bath with wine and then bed...with wine

I don't quite know where to put myself. Keep going to look at my work emails but don't have any - ha!

Congratulations! Enjoy that wine. And 🥂to a non stressful work life!!

As someone in a stressful job (& desperate to get out but feeling trapped) I am super thrilled for you & can imagine how good that must feel. I’m feeling inspired & hopeful now that things can change. Thank you.

trader21c · 09/02/2024 21:22

Great! Congratulations!

Dottina · 09/02/2024 21:23

Sorry to hear you're in the same boat @FunnyCradock. It is crap Flowers

I've taken a small pay cut to get out, but it is worth it! That just wasn't sustainable anymore.

Congratulations!!

The answer is both and enjoy your week off. I hope your new job treats you a lot better.

Dottina · 09/02/2024 21:50

Thank you! Yes, fingers crossed re the next job 😬. If it's anything like the one I've just left, I'll run screaming back out through the door 😩. I don't believe it will be though - I asked a lot of questions at interview

Well done, onwards and upwards. 🙂

Sharksarescary · 09/02/2024 22:08

Congratulations. Enjoy your week off. Be prepared to just feel exhausted the next couple of days as your body adjusts to the new less stressful reality.

Forhecksake · 09/02/2024 22:23

Well done! I'm going to live vicariously through you until I hopefully get the job I'm applying for this weekend. Fingers crossed that everyone gets a nice non-toxic workplace out of it 😁

fitnessmummy · 09/02/2024 22:29

Can I ask what made it stressful for you? Congratulations on new job x

Dottina · 10/02/2024 08:30

Thanks all Flowers

@Sharksarescary, yes I'm tired. Managed a small glass of wine and then just wanted to sleep. Only just woke up!

Good luck @Forhecksake! Hope you get it.

@fitnessmummy, there were so many things! It was a stressful work environment all round. Everyone was stressed. I found my own job particularly rough as it was very time sensitive and last minute - you couldn't prepare for anything and things could change last minute. Getting it wrong either way would be a big mess. That was just the nature of the job and I was actually quite good at it. But it was just a lot of plate spinning. Hours were a bit unsociable and my commute wasn't great. Because everyone was snowed under there was no support and part of my job was giving people more work, so had people crying when I spoke to them.

Final straw was when my dc was poorly and it was also my day off and I was still getting work calls. Thought "fuck this" and started jobhunting.

New job is better hours and commute at the very least so fingers 🤞!
