Hi just wondering if anyone knows the eligibility for the cost of living payment . I got a nil award due to my payment going towards an advance payment so I should have got a payment it just went towards an advance payment. I'm just wondering if anyone knows if I will be eligible?

Sorry if I’m misunderstanding, do you mean you were eligible and awarded it but no cash will go in your bank because it’s paying off this debt? In which case you are eligible, and you’ve had it, in that it will mean you won’t be paying off your advanced payment for as long.

Sorry, not sure I understand.
Is debt in play here?

You had an advance payment but your next payment will be nil as it's to pay off your debt?

You may still be eligible for a Cost of Living Payment if your benefit is reduced to £0 and one of the following applies:

  • money was taken off your benefit for other reasons, such as payments of rent to your landlord or for money that you owe

If you had a nil award due to paying off an advance then you should still be eligible for the COL payment. I’ve copied and pasted the above from the Gov link here https://www.gov.uk/guidance/cost-of-living-payment

I suggest waiting until the cut off to see if you’ve received the money. It sounds like you should do

Yes sorry that's what I meant on the qualifying assessment dates for the assessment period for the cost of living I should of been entitled to a payment but it showed as nil as the payment I should of got went to a debt so I wasn't sure if I would still be eligible for it

You can ask the DWP to take a second look from Feb 23rd:
