How do I know if my nose is broken?

May be a stupid question. Toddler head butted me right on the bridge & the pain was immense. The whole front of my head/sinuses feel sore even though it’s more than 2 days later particularly when i lean forward. No blood, definitely some swelling. Nose feels a little different but can’t be certain as never inspected it that much!

Ah, commiserations, the exact same thing happened to me a couple of years ago (but I also heard a cracking noise). My DH was in an important meeting in the next room, I was trying so hard not to make any noise, but my DD saw how much pain I was in and started bawling!

To answer your question, I'm not sure. I already had a bump on the bridge of my nose, and a Dr years ago had assumed my nose had been broken previously due to that. So...it still has a bump, but the bump feels slightly different. Mine seemed swollen, but there was no bruising and no blood. But I can only assume due to the noise that it did break (again).

Then more recently I landed on my nose during a failed gymnastics manoeuvre at a class. No noise that time, not quite so painful, no idea if it broke a third time.

I don't think they can really do anything for a broken nose, unless it is clearly out of alignment, so I never bothered going to the GP.

@Imicola I cried like a baby! It’s the headaches that are bothering me more to be honest

I can't remember exactly now, but i think i was sore for about a week, but after a couple of days it was mainly when touching my nose. I did wonder if it would be possible to damage your sinuses.
