Where are you all buying them?
I can't afford £300 for a prom dress from one of the prom dress shops near us. Are there any that are of any decent quality online? Dd wants a light blue satin dress

Bought my daughters from Stacees online too
She had left it really late to decide she wanted to go after all so not much choice.

Fortunately they delivered on time and it fitted perfectly and looked amazing. There's a gallery of real people wearing all the styles which was helpful to see.

One thing I would say is that their returns policy is essentially non existent. You can only return if it's defective not if you just don't like it and they will try really hard to say it's not so don't order a spare (like me who didn't read the small print) and be really careful with the measurements.
I did manage to sell our spare dress on Vinted but was out of pocket. It was my fault for not reading carefully really.

I can’t help with the shopping aspect but I can comment as a previous owner of a pale blue satin prom style dress. It shows up every water mark, wrinkle and other type of mark (fake tan) of which there are many at a big event like a prom. If it survives and can be cleaned successfully, It’s a colour you’re unlikely to wear a second time (at a uni ball for example). Suitable shoes and accessories for pale blue may have little lifespan too.
£300 is madness. It should be a rite of passage to get the best pre loved or vintage dress for a prom in this day and age.

DD1 wore a sequinned jumpsuit from ASOS - it was £69. We also looked at John Lewis - they have a lot of satin Ghost dresses), Ebay & Vinted.

Also look a rentals / dress agencies - we have several small local ones near us or John Lewis Dress Rental

10 years ago I bought my daughter’s 50’s style short prom dress for £35 from a Chinese seller on EBay. It was well made and she looked beautiful. You don’t have to spend a fortune for one night! I bought my wedding dress from Simply be for £65, last year, which was also lovely, and would have made a nice prom dress.

If you're not sorted yet, there were literally hundreds of blue prom dresses on Vinted when I was looking yesterday, for as little as a tenner.

We got dds from JJs House. We had tried a shop first but they were expensive and not great quality and the sales person was pushy and upset DD. I felt it was a bit of a risk ordering online but the dress was about £100 and came within a couple of weeks. It's lovely quality and fits perfectly.

My daughter got hers from Quiz for £75. She looked stunning. Theres just no point spending much more for a few hours wear.

Some time ago a poster on MN said she had put in a filter of £10 and asked her daughter to chose one from eBay.
