A gift for my neighbours

I'll be (unwillingly) moving house in the next few months. I've lived in my current house for over a decade and neighbours have been lovely. I moved here with nothing and they accepted me right away. They are so kind to my children and have watched them grow up - they remember birthdays and always get them gifts, they've put up with noise (autism and disabilities means it can get quite loud even though I try hard to keep it peaceful) and all sorts. I am really sad to be leaving not just the house but them.

There are 3 couples, all of them are retired. I don't have a lot of money to spend but I would love to get them all a thank you/goodbye gift but I'm not really sure what.
I'll write them all nice cards but I don't what else to give.

A nice plant maybe?

Could the kids make them cards? Have them over for a goodbye dinner?

I don’t think you should agonise over it, the card is the most important thing. Get your children to sign it as well as you, maybe even get the children to make it.

Perhaps a printed out photo of your kids too.

When my lovely, kind neighbours in my old house moved, I made them a fruit cake which I’d decorated with a theme of their garden, and with both our cats on it (we’d often looked after each other’s cats). But without kids, I had more time than you probably have! A plant or flowers would be fine.

A card made by your children is perfect.
Supermarkets often sell miniature roses which can be house or garden plants, quite cheap.

Invite them in for drinks and nibbles, then give them some homemade cakes as they leave.

I think a nice message on a nice card with a nice tin of biscuits would be really lovely. You can get really nice cards on Etsy that have fused glass decorations on them eg a tree or flower or bird etc. Drinks and nibbles wouldn’t be my thing, unless it was something I had done regularly in the past. Good luck in your move.
