Where is your happy/quiet place?

Being a new mum again to my second baby, a little stroll to a coffee shop used to be my place to go to totally relax and just unwind.

But lately I've found them so loud, busy & distracting.

Is it just me?

Where is your happy or quiet place?

The stables with my horse.

I go to the shore, and hunt for sea glass and shells.
I like being alone, with just the sea and the birds

The woods near my house,
or near the river,
or my garden, with a coffee.

Marie2024 · 09/02/2024 00:11

My little balcony.

Water, preferably in it. A bath will do in a pinch!
Every summer I get an almost craving to launch myself into any open water Grin decided to go with it and braved a wild swimming group
I love it but I'm not an all weather swimmer

In Spring and Summer, my front garden. Our house is slightly lower than street level, and the hedge gives privacy from passers by. We have two chairs with a little table between them so I can have drinks and snacks. I can see apple blossom, elderflowers, violets, columbine, cotoneaster flowers, buddleia flowers, and the nasturtiums that we planted, and hear the bees buzzing around, and see the birds and butterflies, and look up at a blue sky on a sunny day. I like to take a book out and read there too. On a warm day I sit with bare feet and have green fern fronds tickling my toes. It's very peaceful.

At Home: in my teenagers room. He's in the attic bedroom and it's just so cosy but airy up there. The mostly monotone room is easy to be in. His sofa bed (only used as a sofa) is comfy and I can feel the sun through the Velux/listen to the rain tapping on it.

Locally in summer: walking barefoot along the shore with the dogs.

Short drive away: up a mountain or walking around a lake.

Still haven't found the perfect place to read though. Lately, I tend to just carry three books everywhere with me like they're comfort blankets, hoping for the half hour I can immerse myself for a few pages. A reading cafe would be ideal... Books and coffee are my Out Of Reach Atm happy place.

I love all of these. It's making me want to get outside my comfort zone and find a new "quiet place" just for me. I don't do a lot alone these days.

Keep them coming ❤️
