Straighteners for thick hair?

MNetters, please help.

I've had my GHDs Gold (wide plates) for 10 years now. They are still ok, but seem perhaps less powerful and dry my hair more than before.

I'm thinking about an upgrade but all I read is that new GHDs aren't as good as they were 10 years ago.

Can anyone recommend good and fast straighteners that don't burn hair (or fingers!) too much?

I have very thick, long hair and need something good to save time around my toddler.

I don't care about curling hair, I have separate curling devices.

Key is straightening and being able to style fringe/bangs well would be a bonus - styling fringe can be quite tricky with my current straighteners. TIA!

I’ve just bought the new GHD Chronos which are very good. 15% off today on the GHD website. A bit annoying as I bought them with 10% off!
