Rug that's good with scratchy cat?

Hi, I've gone for chat as I didn't think this was quite for the property or style topics!

Got a new cat and she's quite scratchy on the carpeted floor. I want to get a large cat proof rug to cover most of the lounge area. Needs to be:
Tough enough to withstand scratchy claws
Not super super expensive
Nice looking
(Preferably) washable

Any ideas of rugs that would fit the bill? Any tried and tested by cat owners please?

I would try to get her some small scratching mats and dot them round the house and try and train her to only scratch those. We got some a few months back on Amazon, they’re about the size of a small doormat and you can stick them to a hard floor if you want. If ours scratch someone we don’t want them to I shout/clap hands very loudly and say NO! They soon get the message. Basically it’s very hard to train a cat not to scratch someone unless you’re offering an alternative. I’ve always found the scratching posts rubbish!
