Did anyone see Rishi and his flip chart?!

I mean WTF?!
Who uses flip charts these days?! I was so stunned by the method of delivery I couldn’t rake in anything he was saying. (This is the conservative political broadcast on BBC1 at about 7 tonight)

He gets more and more like a third rate maths teacher everyday!

Did anyone see Rishi and his flip chart?!

@2dogsandabudgie you’re right - such a shame. Maybe part of the £30 billion that Truss had when trashing the economy could have gone towards it.

CruCru · 08/02/2024 08:46

I like Rishi Sunak. I think it’s a shame that he became PM immediately after Johnson / Truss.

I followed it very well, but what I don’t understand is if inflation is down to 4% from 11% as he says, why the hell is everything getting more and more expensive?

Because 4% still means prices are rising. Also because he's being incredibly selective about failing to mention that inflation was at 1.5% when Labour was last in power.

That Twitter feed has made me howl this morning 😂

I use flip charts at work all the time.

Anyhow I imagine there was a tech fail if this was on the TV. And if this is what you base your voting decisions on you need a rethink. There are plenty of reasons not to vote Tory. Flipchart usage isn't one of them (tbf regardless of the party!)

herewegoagainy · 08/02/2024 10:59

It was not live. A potential tech failure is not an issue. But inability to spell is.

herewegoagainy · 08/02/2024 11:02

@Flamme that twitter feed is funny. I also like the tweet pointing out that Rishi Sunak is a man who could not win an election against Liz Truss.

We'll have to invest in Green Tech one way or the other, all our competitors are, climate change isn't going away.

what i find strange is no one asks where Sunak is finding £26bn for tax cuts from?

Maybe Sunak can do another flip chart to explain?

(£20bn already given away and £6bn to follow in the Spring budget)

At some point someone is going to ask exactly what spending cuts they're going to make after the election - all of Hunt's forecasts are based on huge "efficiency savings" from 2025 from departments already cut to the bone.

leafybrew - Labour have just done a U-turn on their green energy policy of spending 28 billion a year. They never said where that money was going to come from though.

They haven’t. They’ve said the money’s not there - because Sunak and his bunch of incompetents are operating a scorched earth policy.

elastamum · 08/02/2024 17:59

I'm pretty sure that the Rishi can't spell mortgage is that he has never had to have one. He can't use a petrol pump either.

herewegoagainy · 08/02/2024 19:00

I hadn't realised until Rishi that there are people who can drive but do not know how to use a petrol pump. That level of privilege is pretty mind blowing.

Even the prime minister didn’t seem to understand this given he kept saying the cost of living was coming down. Nope it’s just not rising as quickly!

I’d give him the benefit of the doubt here. I think he was talking about the COLA metric (i.e. the adjustment that has to be applied) rather that what most of us plebs would think of by “cost of living” (i.e. how expensive everything is to buy).

So COLA = inflation, which is going down
“cost of living” = how expensive stuff is, which is still going up

He is a clever guy, he knew very well what he was doing and just in case he didn't, someone would have told him.

Like his PMQs stuff, its all heavily scripted.

However, i was more worried about Chief Sec to the treasury, Laura Trott, she had no idea that Debt to GDP was, by her own dept s predictions, going UP over the next 5 years.

BIossomtoes · 09/02/2024 11:49

However clever he might be he has absolutely no political judgement. None. Whoever’s writing his scripts either hasn’t got any either or is deliberately sabotaging him. And, yes, Trott is hugely problematic but just a symptom of a government that’s run out of talent.

Gloriosaford · 09/02/2024 13:56

Isn't his real function something to do with channeling British taxpayer money into infosys coffers?
