Ideas for dd room ?

It's now dd turn to have her room decorated.we are trying to think of things we could do . She seems to be looking at some blue colours. I was thinking about doing this ( see pic) but painting the wood in the colours she wants then leaving the other parts white ? Or will it just look like bits of wood stuck to the wall ?

Apart from that I have no idea what to do. She's 13.

I’d just go for all white/ off white with loads of blue accessories, it’s easier to touch up/ add to and change as she changes her mind!

You can pin photos/ pictures between the wooden beams, or on them!

I wouldn't do colour only on the wood and white in between but it looks good as all a solid colour with the wood for interest. If you don't want to paint the whole thing blue then you could paint it all off white and use accessories as a pp said.

I was half thinking it might not work just painting the wood. I don't mind painting it all. I was just trying to think of something a bit different.

Definitely paint it all the colour she chosen.
Then add photo frames/mirrors/mini shelves in the gaps. Possibly some subtle lights like LED candles on the shelves?
You could have those all in a different colour to contrast.
