Where to go abroad for a few nights after Christmas without the kids?

Any suggestions? DH and I both have milestone birthdays at the end of the year. We haven’t been away just the two of us since before covid, and it would be good to do something just us. We would like to go abroad, but we don’t intend to be away that long so can’t go properly long haul. New York came to mind but the new years stuff and crowds is off-putting. It’s not our scene 😂

Where would be good at that time of year?

If you don’t want long haul (I wouldn’t either) then maybe Marrakech, Malaga or Seville? Weather is not guaranteed but a decent chance of sun and definitely warmer than here.

Or a ski break if you ski or fancy trying? The period between Christmas and NY is expensive but after NY is not.

Hmm yes southern Spain was somewhere else that came to mind. Or Rome maybe. Or Iceland if we go in the opposite direction, to try and see the northern lights.

Oh yes it would be a great time for the Northern Lights - Lapland also an option for that. Fab idea.

Some smaller cities in Europe come to mind. Ghent, Antwerp, perhaps somewhere on the Cote D'Azur.
