Any recommendations for a really good mattress please?

Our Tempur mattress is now 15 years old and it’s time for a change.

I don’t necessarily want another memory foam mattress as they aren’t breathable and do smell odd after a while.

I like the look of the Hypnos pillow top beds and found the one in the premier inn comfortable but I do wonder whether I’m missing a trick with other brands?

The sprung divan base that we have is fine so only really need a new mattress and happy to spend up to about £1200 for a double.

Any suggestions please?

We have the Emma premium. Had it just over a year, it’s honestly the most comfortable
mattress I’ve ever slept on. Had no trouble transitioning from our old mattress (usually takes me a week or so to get used to it).

Hypnos really is the best by far. You can often find 'shop-soiled' 'new-other' ones on ebay for a lot less than brand new.

You don't need a pillow top as you can always get a luxe mattress topper.

Ooh I have a John Lewis padded mattress topper that I’d bought for the Tempur when it started getting hard and uncomfortable. Thanks so much.

You're welcome! You really can't go wrong with a Hypnos mattress (I don't work for Hypnos!) Do check out bargains on ebay. I haven't delved deep, but just for example https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/225944373559
