Northwood, London - places to live?

My colleague's daughter is hoping to a masters at the London School of Theology in Northwood. She's hoping to rent a room for the year - can anyone recommend any safe towns with decent public transport? I don't know the area at all. She initially was thinking central London but I don't think she appreciated how far out Northwood is 😀

Thanks!

Watford, Rickmansworth, Bushey, why not Northwood itself? Although housing and presumably rent is very expensive in Northwood. Pinner is decent, but I’d say Watford will be the best value for rent, although South Oxhey might be cheaper, not as nice, possibly, but a reasonable commute. Bushey is really nice, good high street. Central London would be horribly expensive and far! A lot of colleagues worked in Northwood and lived in Ealing when I worked there.
