Anyone else believe in Bigfoot/Sasquatch?

Fed up of my family teasing me as I do believe Bigfoots are real, I try to watch everything I can documentary-wise on Bigfoot, I think its very interesting. I would love to live in America so that I could go proper Bigfooting😅

Dh says its all just a money making scam, no matter how many times I try to explain about the folklore and that they have been around for generations, etc, he just laughs it off.

I follow the BFRO and Dr Jeff Meldrum on social media, there is even an Alaska Bigfoot cruise now, I would LOVE to go on that😄

Anyone else fascinated by Bigfoot??

I am fairly surprised no one has been able to track this sort of stuff with night vision.

I have an NIR camera that attaches to my phone it is great for work in finding hotspots.

You could easily attach one of these to a drone, then fly it over the forests looking for Bigfoot.

I reckon about 10 nm would be a good wavelength to detect Bigfoot.

BMW6 · 07/02/2024 11:46

No, with modern technology they would have been discovered by now

CormorantStrikesBack · 07/02/2024 11:55

I do love the documentaries. I wish they’re real. I do think though if they were there would be more hard evidence, ie a dead body.

One of the Discovery+ documentaries did exactly that and tracked one in Alaska.

Oooh really??

BigfootAficionado · 07/02/2024 12:34

yes, there is footage on night vision and infrared on numerous documentaries.

They sent a primatologist on Expedition Bigfoot, she played some bigfoot calls and got a response

would like to believe in big cats roaming Britain. That is my favourite mysterious creature story

@friendlyflicka I am pretty sure I saw a black panther

peppermintcrisp · 07/02/2024 12:39

I saw this not long ago.

It’s pretty clear from the picture that it’s just a black cat. The shape of the head is all wrong to be a panther or whatever.

peppermintcrisp · 07/02/2024 13:27

It wasn't a black domestic cat lol. It was the size of a/bigger than, a big black dog.

BigfootAficionado · 07/02/2024 13:32

The thing with the cats is that they are probably escaped/let loose exotic pets who are now living in the countryside, maybe breeding, who knows

No. Like a pp, 'sightings' are likely to be of bears.

NotASasquatch · 07/02/2024 13:42

Not my thing but it’s interesting to see how passionate/obsessive people are about it.

I am good friends with one of the more popular Sasquatch related speakers/authors though and he’s very close friends with Bob Gimlin so that’s my minor claim
to fame.

But how do they know it's a Bigfoot responding? The documentary people of course will say oh yes it is, it doesn't sound like any other animal, etc. But honestly the wolves, mountain lions, even the deer of North America can all make some weird and unusal noises. I've watched plenty of backpacking videos in the Pacific coast area and some poor hiker is scared in a tent hearing weird noises which to me sound like the BigFoot noises and plenty of hunters etc comment on the videos saying it's a mountain lion, etc.

BananaPyjamaLlama · 07/02/2024 13:59

Cheers @GasPanic Yes! Cryptozoology. I can stop trying to remember that word now :)

That is actually quite likely. We know some large cats have escaped over the years. A cat of that size would likely make its home in a forest and happilly eat sheep or deer for the rest of its days.

GettingStuffed · 07/02/2024 14:30

If you're interested in this sort of thing this academic paper should be of interest. It's about a woman in Russia who was wild living and when here genes were tested they were not comparable with other people in the region

OldTinHat · 07/02/2024 14:47

@GettingStuffed Thanks for sharing that. I'd forgotten that story. The paper is very interesting.

VenusClapTrap · 07/02/2024 14:53

No, somebody would have captured one by now.

Big cats - probably. There are enough people who like to secretly keep exotic pets, which then escape. Although I had a friend years ago who had a bog standard domestic moggy that was the size of a decent sized dog. It wandered into the lounge when I visited and I jumped out of my chair - never seen one that big before or since. It was bigger than a Maine Coon, short haired, and just massive.

I think I am a teeny bit jealous😂

They're supposed to be huge aren't they?
In all these years no dead body has ever been found? No skeletons? Nothing beyond some really fuzzy photos and videos that could be anything.
It just doesn't seem very realistic that in this day and age with all the technology available that there is absolutely no actual evidence.

It's not impossible I suppose but I'll believe it when I see it.

I find it hard to reconcile the hugeness with how shy they are.

Your average bigfoot could probably rip a human to bits. So why are they so scared of us ?

If I was 12 foot tall and made of solid muscle I wouldn't be worried about anyone seeing me eat a few berries.

And that's another thing. If they are that big then a few berries is not going to cut the mustard when they are needing to stay alive. The bigfoot would need to be fueled by meat, and a lot of it. So their ecological footprint in terms of living would be pretty large, with ripped apart sheep carcasses littering the place where they lived.

BigfootAficionado · 07/02/2024 15:26

They chase and kill deer, they follow their migratory path into the lowlands during winter

Then you'd expect piles and piles of deer bones with evidence of them having been chewed on by animals with massive teeth.

Where are all the deceased Bigfoot? If they live they must die and yet no remains have ever been found.

I believe there are undiscovered insects and small animals in places like the Amazon but a ten foot ape in Oregon? Unlikely.

Maybe they are cannibals and eat each other.

Or maybe there is a secret bigfoot graveyard somewhere yet to be discovered.

Maybe they have a special bigfoot ritual where they bury their dead.
