Good spot for early evening drink near Covent Garden

Going to a theatre matinee on Saturday. The theatre is in St Martins Lane. Looking for somewhere for a drink for 90 mins or so from 5pm. Really want to avoid anywhere LOUD and absolutely rammed - I know, it might be a big ask! Pub or bar would be fine, just not anywhere you have to scream to be heard

Any suggestions? Thanks!

Mr Foggs Tavern is on St Martins Lane would be perfect. You probably need to book.

@InTheRainOnATrain , looks perfect, thanks. The only problem is that they're showing the bloody rugby! 🤦🏻‍♂️

Piazza Bar Terrace in the Royal Opera House, open to all, not just Royal Opera House patrons.

Royal Opera House - lovely but on the dear side. Nicest G&T I've ever had was in there.

You'll only be there 90 mins, drink slowly through a straw!

This was going to be my suggestion too. Nice views over Covent Garden and the small plates they do are also good for a nibble.

Upstairs whisky bar in Browns (they do wine). Last time I went there (alone, pre-theatre) there were only 3 other people in there.

The Delaunay on the Aldwych is excellent. And No 1 Aldwych too. Also a little bit of a walk but went to Maison assouline last week which is beautiful

Yes we always use the bar at the royal opera house if in Covent Garden area.
