We often do this as we don’t like food waste. Add a couple of sliced sausages or meatballs too.

tellmewhenthespaceshiplandscoz · 06/02/2024 12:49

Sounds lovely and a runny yolk fried egg (crispy bottomed) would elevate it to food of the gods 😊

Willmafrockfit · 06/02/2024 12:51

Got to include a fried egg

PermanentTemporary · 06/02/2024 12:54

I had an egg LITERALLY in my hand to put in but had already added some stock and decided the egg wouldn't mix in. Maybe a big mistake.

It was v nice though.

I'm no culinary genius but that sounds particularly unappetising.

carbon60 · 06/02/2024 19:21

Is that a number fry up? It doesn't sound like any fry up I've had .

Willmafrockfit · 06/02/2024 19:26

no i think it should have had mash

ilovepixie · 06/02/2024 19:29

Sounds disgusting. And that is not a fry up!

Fridge gravel.

I often make weird things with it. Sometimes with surprisingly successful results. I'm a hoarder of small odd leftovers, because I hate waste.

@Hatty65
We call it fridge droppings in our house

Treayi · 06/02/2024 19:42

sounds fine, can’t go wrong with stock rice and veg! we’re slowly trying to eat down a lot of the cupboard/freezer stuff so having lots of weird concoctions lately

Willmafrockfit · 06/02/2024 19:45

i had fried haggis with pasta yesterday, and creme fraiche and mushrooms, it was nice, but i wouldnt have called it a fry up.
it was leftovers

seaweedhead · 06/02/2024 19:47

That's almost exactly what I had for lunch today. Random assortment of vegetables (mushrooms, broccoli, peppers, peas) fried up with some left over rice. Bit of stock, a few spices.

HarrietJonesFlydaleNorth · 06/02/2024 19:47

Oh a couple of days ago we had cabbage, roast carrots, roast potatoes, spam, courgette, and some bits of mushroom - all chopped up small, doused in Worcestershire sauce and fried up with a fried egg on top 😋

Sounds a bit Charlie Bucket in his pre-Wonka era to me.

I’d have added some sweet soy and chilli to spice things up a bit. Maybe a few sesame seeds tossed in. Bougie that cabbage

Bacon

tellmewhenthespaceshiplandscoz · 06/02/2024 22:47

Ooh yes bacon makes everything better.

TheChosenTwo · 06/02/2024 22:51

Doesn't sound very appealing to me but using up food however you will eat it is a win win.
But it sounds more like just cooking random things together, a fry up to me means a fried breakfast with sausage, eggs, bacon, mushrooms etc.
