There's so much wrong with people's take on this. I'm not a fan, don't watch his stuff, not my sort of thing.
But
He had permanent sole custody of his other two kids when they were tiny. Mother was an alcoholic. He's not a crap dad.
He stepped back from media work to be home more for the boy. He campaigns to raise awareness for autism funding. He's trying to create a new income stream for his family hence all the publicity for his projects here.
His in laws moved in with them when they got married, long before the baby. Father in law died just a few months ago, having been cared for with cancer in the extended family home. How lovely for mother in law not to be alone now. His wife has also been very ill. How was he supposed to work away and provide for them without live-in support for a special needs child?
He didn't say he didn't want this kid. He expressed ambivalence about being an older dad. Elsewhere he's talked of his guilt about the higher risk of autism with an older dad.
But most of all - these are not his words. They're a journalist's. It would have been "tell us what you like to do at the weekend" rearranged by them. They'd have chosen the focus. And it is one day of the week. What if he gets the boy brek and takes him to school all the other days, for example?
He might indeed be an arse to other people.. But that's not a reason to slaughter him based on this piddling superficial article.
