Vomiting/Diarrhoea for a week?

Just over a week ago I caught D&V off my toddler. Was sick about 8 times and had several bouts of diarrhoea, but the next day felt a bit better.

Then a day after that it happened again, was sick a couple of times and diarrhoea. Day after, no sickness or diarrhoea.

This has been going on for over a week now. One day I won’t be sick or have any diarrhoea and the day after I will. I’ve not been able to eat much as been feeling sick in between and sometimes have cramps.

Also a couple of days I’ve had really bad lower back pain and then that disappears 🤔 Some days I am only sick once/have one bout of diarrhoea rather than multiple.

DD1 has been similar with a couple of odd instances of sickness and diarrhoea appearing every few days, but nowhere near as bad as mine and she seems okay now. DD2 (baby) has been absolutely fine.

Does anyone know how long this might last? Or if it is something to be concerned about? I’ve never had diarrhoea before.

Are you passing watery gel likes stools? If so, you could have gastroenteritis - I've had it twice - once it last for two weeks, on the other occasion it was around a month - I stop being sick/passing anything other end, go back to work, have a mini tea and it'd start all over again. I suspect they can do more these days, but at the time GP told me I had to ride it out.

Hope you feel better soon.

Aim for at least 2 litres of fluid a day and get Dioralyte sachets from the chemist. I had exactly this last year, thought it would never end!

Ok OP, here’s my random sounding solution to this problem. I had similar last year, D&V that appeared to stop but I still felt nauseous for the following week. I drank some unfiltered Apple Cider Vinegar diluted in water to cure it. ACV naturally contains good pro-biotics that help rebalance and settle the stomach after D&V. I know it sounds weird but it does work. I used Braggs ACV, available from Holland & Barrett. Also just drinking a good quantity of water to flush your system through might help.

(If you do try the AVC use a straw to drink through to protect your tooth enamel).
