Alternative to SSRIs/medication for depression

I have been prescribed Sertraline for stress and depression. I am really, really reluctant to take it.
I don’t like taking medication generally, and I think it’s a big decision for me to go on medication that will take weeks to maybe work, has lots of side effects, and will take a long time to come off.

I DO NOT judge anyone else for taking it, I’m not saying I think it’s a bad thing, I’m just saying that for me personally I feel really uncomfortable and, if I’m honest, scared about it.

I took one yesterday and I’ve felt light headed and ill since.

Are there any alternatives that people have tried for raising serotonin production/uptake please? Lifestyle changes, foods etc? I will do my own research too but thought there may be people here who’ve felt the same.

Thank you 💐
