Five nights at Freddy’s. I was reluctant to watch it but my kids insisted on it for Friday night film night.

It wasn’t as bad as I thought it was going to be

Stardust.

Thought it looked awful and took me a couple of years to watch. Love it now.

American History X. OH made me watch it and I was so anti it and ended up blubbing. It was fantastic. Must watch it again one day.

Thank you for reminding me of this. I'm at home with the flu and need some easy watching

I was pregnant watching this film the evening DD first kicked. ... as a result I now blub whenever I hear the opening of the Take That song in the film 😁

A long time ago now but... Shawshank Redemption.

Went out with my then boyfriend and 3 of his housemates to see some blockbuster or other. Coukdnt get in so we all grumpily filed into an almost empty screen to see Shawshank, knowing absolutely nothing about it.

Came out at the end all weeping and hugging each other. Beautiful experience.

The first Kingsmen film. I thought “Oh, here we go again, another comic book to film adaptation…” but it was well made, funny and dramatic. Colin Firth took the action scenes in his stride and Taron Everton made his mark.
Just right for family movie night. The second one was a bit silly.

The Joker with Joaquin Phoenix. I was expecting some kind of Marvel superhero thing which I can't stand. But it was mesmerising.

Barbie

I enjoyed it. Isn't there going to be a second one?

Moneyball. Sports aren't my thing but Aaron sorkin script made it interesting.

I cannot remember the name but one night I was browsing Netflix and ended up watching an Irish movie about men who stole Viagra delivery and hid it in a dwell and it got mixed into the water running through the town.
I really liked the movie as I had no expectations.

Oppenheimer.

It sounded tedious, especially given it was so long, but my son wanted to see it, so I agreed to go with him. I really enjoyed it! A real surprise as I'm not remotely interested in Physics, science, etc.

betterangels · 06/02/2024 13:23

Barbie.

LaPalmaLlama · 06/02/2024 13:39

Oppenheimer
True Romance ( still think it’s Tarantino’s best film- better than either RD or PF)
Wonka

Pearlyclouds · 06/02/2024 13:45

Barbie!

Lottapianos · 06/02/2024 13:53

Bridesmaids. I thought it was just going to be a load of shrieking and twee fluffy nonsense. It's extremely funny, and there's definitely some shrieking, but there's a lot more to it. I found it really thoughtful and felt it had quite a bit to say about ageing, envy, sadness, loss and friendship

Windydaysandwetnights · 06/02/2024 13:54

Paddington and Garfield... Childhood classics and felt sure they couldn't do them justice. Bloody fab.

Hunger Games!

Needhelp101 · 06/02/2024 14:51

Reservoir Dogs. Wanted to see Dracula (the Frances Ford Coppola one) but it had sold out. My brother suggested this and I reluctantly agreed.

Blown away. Much like most of the cast, lol.

ginasevern · 06/02/2024 14:51

Titanic and Carwash.
