Have had it for 3 weeks now - just not budging!!

Any ideas of how to evict the little bstard would be appreciated - tried leaving it, hot compresses, no make-up, cleaning the eye well.. Still there and am stumped what to do!

TIA x

Run a gold ring over it! Apparently 😬

I knew someone who had to have one lanced by the GP... I'd continue with warm compresses! Maybe a visit to a pharmacy.

I once pulled the eyelash in the middle of it out. Hurt like hell, but it worked!

I have a style right now and the only thing helping it is antibiotics, maybe a visit to the gp?

I had a spate of styes when I was a young teenager. Pulling the eyelash out of the middle was all that worked for me too.

It does hurt like hell, but not for long. Your eye, possibly both, will be streaming for hours afterwards though.

Can you post a picture? I wonder if it's a cyst rather than a stye. Or a chalazion - if it's under the lid. It's unusual for a stye to last that long.

Blephasol can be good for cleaning area. I also use honey but that can sting a bit if it gets into your eye. Combine hot compress with ibroprofen to take down swelling related to the blockage. A microwaveable heated mask is useful but don’t overdo the heat - my optician said the inflammation associated with styes can be made worse if too much heat is used.

Styes occur due to a blockage in the oil glands and subsequent infection so if you are prone to them you should use a hot compress daily to preempt blockages (the heat enables the oils to move more free).

good luck. Styes are rubbish ☹️

My dad used to get styes regularly and this really helped. Put a chamomile tea bag in a cup with boiling water. When it has cooled a bit dunk some cotton wool in the liquid and bathe the eye with it. Repeat every hour or so, making sure to change the cotton wool each time and to wash your hands thoroughly before. I hope it gets better soon.

Thanks everyone! I really appreciate all the tips.

It is definitely not a chalazion - have looked at the pictures of them and it seems that is on the eyelid whereas mine is on the lashline. Have had a poke 😃but cant see a trapped lash there.

Have rang the GP so hopefully will get some anti-biotics so knock it on the head, still hot compressing though!

My DD recently got an ointment/cream from pharmacy - it's taken a while to go, but is ok now.

Five times (apparently). It's worked for me in the past - although might have cleared up anyway of course!

It’s not a trapped lash you’re looking for, just pull out the lash closest to the middle of it.

Finkingforts · 06/02/2024 11:23

Leave it entirely. I tried to use a hot compress and my whole eye swelled up, I needed antibiotics and it was really bad.

This.

If you can see anything resembling a head on the stye, bathing with hot water might bring it up, pull out the eyelash closest to it.

I have no idea how to resolve a stye. But pulling out the eyelash that is on it sounds like a wicked thing to do. 😃

Sorry for being unhelpful in your hour of need. 🙃

Nitgel · 06/02/2024 12:17

I did that and it never grew back.

I used to blast mine with a hairdryer.

It sounds satisfying Grin

My DF used to get these a lot he used cold/warm tea bags apparently the tannin in the tea is the helpful part. He also used warm compresses and he was told to wash his eyes daily with baby shampoo almost like washing your hair to help clear anything trapped.

uncomfortablydumb53 · 06/02/2024 22:13

I used to get a lot of styes
Grab the lash nearest the red point and pull out Sore but sorted instantly

Balloonhearts · 06/02/2024 22:32

Pull the eyelash closest to it.
