Probably going to be a number of threads about this. Makes me think if KC3 will abdicate to focus on his health and hand over to PoW.?

Already a thread in Royal Family

Absolutely not.
The RF don't do that.
That's why the late Queen was on the throne until the day she died.

Depends one assumes on how treatment goes. He can hire in the best private care to look after him between treatments, do a workload that suits him and delegate to the others. Cancel all public engagements so doesn't matter if he's doing paperwork in bed in his jammies. No reason to make any rash career jumps

Acatdance · 05/02/2024 18:49

Charles won't abdicate - if needed he'll take a similar path to the late Queen and hand over some or all of his duties to William and the other Councillors of State. Think of Elizabeth shaking hands with Liz Truss when she was hours from her deathbed.

Already two other threads. Perhaps folk could all pick one?

I imagine he will abdicate when he is too old or his health has declined to such an extent that he is unable to work. There is nothing to suggest he has reached this stage yet or even will do soon.

At this stage there is no reason to think he will be doing anything other than quietly retreating from public duties whilst he undergoes treatment and possibly further surgery, before making a good recovery. Talk of abdicating for William seems premature at the moment.

tinytemper66 · 05/02/2024 20:01

I am sure he will get the best treatment available and won't have to wait for treatment.
It isn't nice news for him and his family. But it should be just that. Their news. Him having cancer won't affect my life other than empathy for someone who has been diagnosed.
