FOOT surgery appt - what to ask?

I did start a thread in General Health so apologies if I am doubling up but appt is tomorrow so I am keen to get any opinions I can before then ?

I was scheduled for an operation in 2109. Due to Covid & general muck ups I am only now seeing the Surgeon again. I would like to ask if I can have a fresh x-ray / mri as it was nearly 5 years ago. Do you think that is reasonable?

Also - the surgery was for a Brostrom procedure - my understanding is that tightens up the ligaments around the ankles if you have weak ankles.
I don't particularly. My issues are peroneal nerve entrapement & tarsal tunnel issues (various surgeries over last 10 years have given some relief) Also I now have a lot of pain in top of feet as well as the bottom (heel spurs & very flat feet) & Im worried as my right foot now feels like it is turning inwards & dragging.

I remember the Surgeon was brusque to say the least so I was hoping someone might be able to suggest what I should be asking about as I'm not very good at advocation for myself at times.

Last chance to post before I go in for appt later on.

Does anyone know what I should be asking specifically about symptoms of my foot dragging & turning in please?

How did it go OP

Hi @cactihurt

He briefly waggled one ankle (both feet are problematic) & said 'not loose enough for Brostrum' (looser than 5 yrs ago when he himself recommended it...)

He has referred me for a spinal MRI. Not interested in feet/leg issues at all.
I asked for the MRI to cover my legs & feet but he refused. He thinks it is a Peroneal Nerve impingment at L5/S1 level & 'physio should sort it'. I was in there for just over 8m. I turned back to ask a Qu as I left & he laughed at me. Came home & cried (I am sole Carer for two disabled young adults).

Thank you so much for asking (as I feel a bit alone & down about it) x
