Any idea as to what’s going on? All theories welcome…

So I was checking our bank account last night and found out that dh had spent money at our local hospital car park.
So far so good except
1- he never mentioned going to hospital for anything (either for himself or someone else)
2- he was supposed to be in the office that day (normally wfh) in a different town
3- he was supposed to have his car repaired and there is no transaction from the garage.

I can’t ask him (he is away for work until Saturday) and I’m getting worried.

So far, the best idea I have is that he went with his mum. But that really doesn't sound good re her health.
Any other theories?

He could have been having tests and doesn't want to worry you until he knows either way

RicePuddingWithCinnamon · 05/02/2024 11:22

Could it be food. Our hospital has an area that sells food like Burger King, it had a Chinese restaurant too that’s the best! I park there to buy it when I am nearby.

OddityOddityOdd · 05/02/2024 11:27

Don't you stay in touch while he's away ? Text? whatsApp? Just ask him

BigBoysDontCry · 05/02/2024 11:28

Car was in the garage and used by staff member.

captaincalamari12 · 05/02/2024 11:29

He went on a different day and it's only just left the account?

DRS1970 · 05/02/2024 11:31

I would also guess he is having something investigated and doesn't want to worry you.

AnyTheory · 05/02/2024 11:32

@DRS1970 and @GettingStuffed i know it’s the most logical conclusion but I was hoping someone would come up with another idea 😢

Could he have given a friend a lift?

SerenityNowInsanityLater · 05/02/2024 11:33

Parked car in hospital car park to take a train from there to office? Long shot, I know.
Investigations that he doesn't want to discuss until he needs to.

AnyTheory · 05/02/2024 11:36

He won’t have eaten there. The hospital is about 50 mins away from his work.

And I thought it could have happened on another day but he is wfh all of the time (bar travel about twice a year and a few days in the office there and then).
Im not working atm so I’d have noticed if he had nipped out for half a day iyswim

Can you ask his Mum today if she's been to hospital with your husband? Then you can confirm or rule out that idea.

Boobettes · 05/02/2024 11:40

I can’t ask him (he is away for work until Saturday) and I’m getting worried.

Sorry, why can't you ask him just because he's away?

SiobhanSharpe · 05/02/2024 11:42

STD clinic?
Gender identity woes?

NewPinkJacket · 05/02/2024 11:45

You need to ask him otherwise this is just going to turn into a long nonsense thread, with all sorts of 'ifs, buts and maybes' that'll run until Saturday, with everyone screaming for updates.

It'll do your nerves no good at all.

I have lots of bank entries for petrol stations and car parks. I regularly have baffling entries. Hospital car parks in England are often run by private businesses with the hospital getting a cut of the takings. An entry for Nameofhospital might actually cover other NHS carparks in the area. If an NHS facility has been closed and used for something else ,its carpark may still be operated by the same private business. The NHS can't just pull the rug on the private operator. They'd have to compensate them. Hence the mystery hospital car park charges on your statement for that stop you made at the little supermarket that now occupies what was an NHS clinic some years ago.

AnyTheory · 05/02/2024 12:40

I didn’t know that @Achdinnae

Why on earth can’t you just send him a text? Send a picture of the transaction with a question mark.

Ariela · 05/02/2024 15:00

He could have keyed in a car park machine number incorrectly (in which case expect a ticket).

Did someone at work ask him to take them to A&E/an appointment?
Did he park (for some other reason eg grab a sandwich) in a car park adjacent to another facility in the same NHS network? Quite often they'll band buildings in the same NHS trust under one major hospital name.

orangegato · 05/02/2024 15:03

Ask him outright, on the phone so he doesn’t have the time to think of a lie.

Don’t ask his mum as he’ll be weird if he thinks you’ve gone behind his back.

Worryer · 05/02/2024 15:03

Is he secretly having treatment?

peatblock · 05/02/2024 16:51

Why wouldn’t you just ask him? I hope everything is ok

What and they also used their bank card while they were there?

Ah, a flaw in my plan.... 😁
