How do you get the duct tape to stay stuck on the foot?

Dd has a verucca. We have tried numerous treatments and the doctors have advised trying duct tape before seeing a podiatrist.

But the damn thing won’t stay stuck on! It’s on the heel of her foot which makes it slightly worse.

Try cutting a smaller piece of tape big enough to cover the beastie, and secure it in place with a larger bog standard plaster.

Try a fabric plaster over it

It’s on such an awkward angle that a fabric plaster falls off too…might have to look at getting that tape kind I guess

My son had a veruca and the podiatrist recommended banana peel. I was very skeptical but it worked. We had tried all of the usual over the counter treatments and they did nothing. We also tried freezing and that did nothing.

We attached a small piece of banana peel (inside of the peel against the veruca) every night for 4 weeks and it disappeared completely. The banana needs to be quite ripe and you can keep the peel in the fridge so you don’t need a new banana every night.

This is the tape we were recommended and it stayed put all night:

This for the tape advice. I’ll probably get that one just to keep the duct tape stuck to her foot. She really isn’t impressed. We have tried salycyic acid treatment and two types of cryotherapy treatments. Neither one worked. It’s been months and it’s gotten quite painful at times and now she’s stuck with tape on her foot.

Use liquid plaster or clear nail varnish instead would be my advice

Wow I have never heard of the banana peel method-will definitely keep this in mind!

My mum years ago was told to tape banana skin in duct tape to my verruca as a child. It actually worked. This thread just reminded me of it. Something to do with potassium

Caferouge · 04/02/2024 22:49

I’m also recommending banana peel. It’s painless. The verruca turns black after a couple of weeks and then just falls off.

Catsmere · 05/02/2024 05:55

Would it be any use to try one of those elastic bandages that wrap around the foot?

I had similar issues with a verruca and had to get laser treatment. If freezing it off didn't work then i don't think ducts tape will do much

I read on here a few years ago about putting apple cider vinegar on verrucas.
Soaked a tiny piece of tissue with vinegar and put it on DDs foot overnight, secured with a plaster.
I could not believe it when it sorted it out in a few days. It literally fell off.

I also successfully had laser treatment on a verruca that ten years’ worth of various treatments had done nothing for. Definitely worth looking into.

BarbaricPeach · 05/02/2024 10:46

I used plasters to hold it in place. Basically either one large one if the verruca/tape was a small piece, or several smaller ones framing it if it was a larger area.

Duct tape was the only thing that solved my verruca issues! It's magic. Even the expensive Swift treatment I had at the podiatrist (which was utter agony) didn't solve the issue but duct tape did.

blobby10 · 05/02/2024 10:46

I used to use longer strips of duct tape on my daughter - it went up the side of her foot so her sock and shoe/trainer held it in place.

ViscousFluidFlow · 05/02/2024 10:58

I just used loads on DS foot, he caught one after a school residential trip. It was ripe to pluck out the little black roots, I mentioned how I would do them the next day He picked them out himself and I still feel aggrieved I didn’t get to do them :)

Sunshineandrainbow · 15/02/2024 18:30

Is it just the inside of the banana peel that's needed? Just thinking it might be quite thick to walk on.

KnittedCardi · 15/02/2024 18:36

Nail varnish. It's easier to use. Just dab on every night.
