Rocker shoes and £. What fresh hell is this?

Just need a vent.

Have recently had the joyous news of hallux limitus in one foot. My feet are flat as hell, and an ankle is also prone to its own dramatics, so all in, not an ideal picture.

Getting orthotics made up (which I’ll actually obviously wear from now on, unlike when I was younger) and have been told to look at getting some rocker shoes, especially for walking as I do quite a lot and the idea of stopping can get in the bin.

Sat down tonight to look at the options, bracing myself for a universe of frumptitude. To be fair, there were at least a couple of trainer options that looked ok, but otherwise it was all completely as expected, but the real kicker was HOW much these things cost. MBTs were mentioned, so I’ve started there, but even a lot of other brands are just £££.

I just need a vent, as I say. I’m so bloody sick of scrabbling around for unexpected shit like this. Half-decent looking trainers I’d want to be seen in are £150+. I’m in my thirties, I think I usually dress ok, and I like to have some branded stuff without being super overt with it, but I’d never normally spend this on shoes. It’s just so bloody frustrating. I know there are bigger issues out there but I’m just royally fucked off right now. It’s one thing after another.

Thanks for listening. Haven’t seen any Sorrells yet but will look now. Not madly a fan of the branding on TNF shoes but you’re right that they’re not the worst. I liked the New Balance Kari but not the colour at all.

The main thing I need is casual trainers and all-rounder trainers for gym use and urban walks. For dress shoes for work it looks like I may have to just suck it up and use my existing flats for now. I mainly wfh anyway.

Luckily my walking boots don’t seem to aggravate it at all or I’d really be on the floor having an actual tantrum right now, not just sounding like I am.
