Sharing a birthday?

How close would birthdays need to be, in your family or friend group, for them to be considered shared?

id say maybe up to about 3 days either side?

Prompted by: my friend just said we share a birthday but there are 12 days between 🤣

I think sharing a birthday is the same day only

Suitable for a joint celebration is less than a week so six ish days depending how the weeks fall.

So Thursday and Tuesday celebrate Saturday

Saturday and Thursday celebrate separately?

Errm how is this even a question, surely you can only share a birthday if it's on the same day???
Confused

Yes I mean for sharing a celebration as well really - 3 days allows for something either side of the week so you wouldn’t even need to share anything.

12 days though 🤣🤣🤣

I think it depends on how close the group is tbh. If you're only likely to get everyone together once a month then makes sense to "share" that occassion for any birthdays in the month.

My brothers birthday is 6 days after mine and growing up all of our family celebrations were joint

If it's a friendship groups and the same people would be there (plus a few extras) it makes sense to me. I guess it depends what is planned.

SisterAgatha · 04/02/2024 22:00

It’s some same people but not all and I don’t do a big celebration anyway, I do a few smaller ones instead. 12 days means sometimes it’s almost two weekends between the dates!

Probs v outing but DH and I share the same birthday day with him being 7 years older! Our friends had a DD on the same day too - we often joke about opening the 3rd dimension if the 3 of us stay in the same room for any length of time 🤣

My FIL's birthday was the same day as mine. He was a great guy, so it made my birthday a little sad after he died, especially for the first few years.
