I am mid-40’s and very unfit and untoned! I really want to get fit and lose weight and would like to take up yoga. Please can you recommend any online sessions.

You can’t beat Yoga with Adrienne on YouTube tbh

stcrispinsday · 04/02/2024 18:25

Broke my ankle running here to recommend Yoga with Adriene.

Yoga with Kassandra is great. She doesn't waffle too much. If you are a beginner then you could start with one of her 30 minute morning programmes. Lots of people recommend Yoga with Adrienne but she talks way too much for me.

Whilst yoga has lots of benefits, it won't help you lose weight though as that comes from your diet. And if you want to increase your fitness maybe get some weights and look at Hasfit on YouTube. They are great for beginners.

Thanks everyone. Agree that diet plays a major part. I did try Hasfit previously, but got a bit board of it. Will have a look at both of the people recommended.

I like Uliana, very soothing and I love her accent, the 21-day challenge is great to get started with.

I never really got into Yoga with Adrienne, although I know a lot of people love her.

I really rate Sarah Beth Yoga videos. She has absolutely tonnes on YouTube and you can filter for particular moods, areas or by length of video.

StickyProblem · 04/02/2024 22:18

SaraBeth Yoga, very clear and easy to follow, and calming. Lots of people love Adrienne but I don't like her voice.
Also I was just looking at @LivInLeggings on YouTube and she has some good stuff particularly around mobility.
Doing some real-life yoga will also be good if you can as a teacher can really help correct you, then you can continue with the online stuff.

I really like Sarah Beth Yoga. Great if you're unfit as she does very easy, short videos. (Also longer ones when you're more experienced)

Lessstressedhemum · 04/02/2024 22:37

Yog with Cassandra is brilliant. She is very chilled. I find her very soothing, especially before bed. She is always really positive and encouraging and gives modifications for beginners.

trader21c · 04/02/2024 23:51

downdog yoga app is brilliant

tillsmints · 04/02/2024 23:56

I recently started Yoga with Kassandra. I used to do the Adrienne yoga but found myself guiltily skipping the chat, which is not my cup of tea.

ScabbyHorse · 05/02/2024 00:53

Yoga Upload is the best, she's not annoying like a lot of them on youtube

Whereisme · 05/02/2024 18:32

Thank you everyone! There’s a lot of suggestions to get me started.

trader21c · 05/02/2024 19:36

downdog will probably give you a free trial if you ask for them

Rainbowqueeen · 06/02/2024 02:29

I really like Charlie Follows.

she is based in Manchester and I think does in person classes if you are nearby. She does have some beginner videos but most are most advanced.

Yoga with bird for days when I want an easy class

boho beautiful when I want to fix it up a bit

AwkwardSquad · 06/02/2024 06:53

I can recommend Yoga with Kassandra too, she’s great and gives good instruction for positioning. An in-person class with a good teacher is the best thing for beginners , though, if you can find a local yoga teacher
