I don't use Snapchat although I have an account which I never log into. My teens seem to use it as their main messaging app which I can understand. What I don't understand is the continuous, random shit selfies that they send one another. There appears to be no purpose to this, it doesn't provide any information or appear to have a function. When I asked my 16 year old, they couldn't really give me an explanation beyond "everyone does it". Other than herd mentality what is the psychology of this? I just do not understand it!
