Had it a few weeks ago, very bad for the first 5 days, took another 2 weeks for it to go altogether.

Losingtheplot2016 · 04/02/2024 21:12

Me too! Started a week ago with insane tiredness. Now I feel like there is a layer of snot under my face that goes when I blow my nose only to fill up again quickly. And I feel really poorly

CrushingOnRubies · 04/02/2024 21:26

I'm on my third week of this and it's not nice

Feel like I've turned a corner but honestly the sore throat and tiredness can do one

xxlala7xx · 04/02/2024 21:29

Yeah have had it since Wednesday and today it's thrown into the mix feeling dizzy whenever I stand up

blackheartsgirl · 04/02/2024 21:43

Yep. I’m on week 3 now.

sore throat, blocked nose headache, aches and pains dizziness, awful cough and lost my voice. The tiredness is something else, exhausted just moving and heart rate high when I do.

i think I’m over the worst now but thurs and fri just gone was the worst I’d felt so far.

LondonBagpuss · 04/02/2024 21:50

Nausea, temperature, fatigue (asleep for 33 hrs at one point!), dry hacking cough... HEADACHE. Headache lasted for 6 days then stopped. Then lost 75% of my voice about 3 days with all other symptoms gone, thank God.

Forgot my flu jab this year... and I work very up close and personal with the public....

CrushingOnRubies · 04/02/2024 22:03

My gp has suggested taking Beconase and Diflam. Both from behind the counter at a pharmacy

The difflam isn't making much difference by the Beconase is.

GP reckons it's sinusitis and post viral thing . I was also put on antibiotics but they didn't do anything so presumed it's viral

Before anyone asks I have a medical condition which means any sore throat I'm advised to see the GP

Desdemona44 · 04/02/2024 22:10

I've had this bug for a week and am totally fed up. Can't sleep for more than an hour without waking up coughing, everything hurts. Spontaneously lost my voice last night, and now I appear to also have the shits. Pretty sure I'm still spiking a temp intermittently as I feel woozy and confused and really depressed and tearful. Back to work on Tuesday come what may because I can't afford to take weeks off. I'm totally fed up and feeling really sorry for myself!

Don't know what it is, but I'm getting the flu jab next year

NCTDN · 04/02/2024 22:13

Yes I'm getting the flu jabnext year too!
Like others it came out of nowhere. Fine one night but the next morning I thought I was dyingConfused

emerald1981 · 04/02/2024 22:25

Me too.

Dear god 3/4 weeks for some of you? Hope you are coming to the end of it now🤞🏼I'm on my first week.

Horrible dry hacking cough which gets worse of course when I try to lie down and sleep.
Intermittent fever and headache. Body feels like I have been run over. Absolutely exhausted. Little to no appetite.

Spent the last few nights sleeping on the sofa in an almost upright position. Felt really cold and clammy earlier.

The last few days have noticed breathlessness when trying to read a bedtime story to DS. Tried taking deep breaths between sentences. Couldn't manage it at all tonight.

Covid tests have been negative so far.

Had the flu jab....

jhy · 04/02/2024 22:36

Yes I've had a cough for a couple of weeks. But since Wednesday I've been in bed. Snotty. Coughing my guts up. Achey. Cold/hot. Headache.
Hoping it'll end but everyday seems worse?!

Justonedayatatime11 · 04/02/2024 22:49

I got this at the end of November. So it's now been over 2 months. Occasionally i'll feel better for a couple of days and then it ramps up again. Cough is particularly rubbish in the mornings. Starting to think it's never going to stop!

Justtootired55 · 04/02/2024 23:09

I've had this for 3 weeks. Feel lots better in that headache, ear ache and sleeping are better but because of the awful cough I needed 'puppy pads' to protect the mattress and I'm still regularly weeing myself when I cough sharply. I'm now wearing pads 24/7 due to the number of accidents I've had. I've still got cracking chest even though I've finished antibiotics for chest infection. Hope everyone feels better soon.🌻

blackheartsgirl · 05/02/2024 00:26

I have had the flu jab and I still got it!

Trumpetpants · 05/02/2024 00:33

Yep, me too, but I tested positive for Covid. Spiking a temp, horrible headache, short of breath, awful cough etc...

Oh don’t worry, I had my flu jab and got exactly the same as you. I reckon the jab targeted the wrong strain or something.

My headache, dizziness, extreme fatigue, nausea, hot and cold chills and racing heart started on 6 Jan, sore throat next day, cough day after that. (No blocked nose or sinuses though). I was in bed for about 4 days, no appetite, chest strained from coughing. Cough still around 3 weeks later, it’s only in the last few days have felt properly myself again.

It’s brutal. But it does go eventually..

anicecuppateaandayummyshortbreadbiscuit · 05/02/2024 00:42

My young adult kids and I missed our flu shots this year and we've had this all this week. It's almost like covid but not covid but bar covid it's the worst chest infection I've ever had.

We've all had horrendous headaches, sore throats, dizzyness, congestion and tiredness but the absolute worst for my daughter and I was the incredible pain in our left sides every time we coughed or sneezed. You try to do little gentle coughs every time your throat tickles and that makes it worse so you do great hacking coughs and the pain in your left side is unbearable. Google says it's not kidneys. Google, the doctor who is always available!, said it's infected muscles and will get better. The pain is awful. Got to go back to work and feel so tired and rough but impossible to see a doctor or get a doctors note so we will all just have to suck it up and go back to work.

I'm glad to know it's not just us though. This has been the most horrible bug and no idea where it came from!

Austrianmilk · 05/02/2024 00:55

So sorry to hear so many of you are suffering with this horrendous virus. I've just come out of week 5 and finally starting to feel normal. I ended up with two lots of antibiotics for the most painful chest infection ever along with a sore throat, the worst headache imaginable and fever. The fatigue has been something else. I've literally slept most afternoons for three hours flat. Also, I've never known so much snot! I've been blowing my nose for five weeks...where does it all come from?! I am so relieved to finally start feeling somewhat ok.

Umbrellaelleella · 05/02/2024 01:13

Not quite the same symptoms but feeling so miserable I could do with some company! I've had strep throat all week, I just finally started feeling better this morning but I have just been woken up by nausea and stomach cramps so I can only assume I've now caught DD's stomach bug. I'm so sleep deprived already from my own and DC's illnesses I just want to be able to sleep!

Sorry to everyone who feels rubbish, it's a rough time of year!

its2024 · 05/02/2024 01:26

I've been suffering with this virus for about 3 weeks, Blocked nose, tickly cough, no energy. Thought I was getting better but no next day would be back. But last 2 days have felt human again so fingers crossed I'm over it and hope everyone is feeling better soon.

ILoveMyCatButHesAPervert · 05/02/2024 06:15

Lots more:

To ask if anyone has this awful virus at the moment? http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk/amiibeingunreasonable/4987803-to-ask-if-anyone-has-this-awful-virus-at-the-moment

Winnading · 05/02/2024 06:25

I've been feeling crappy for a few weeks. The cough from hell, actually wheezing which I haven't done in yonks, the snot, now a sore throat from the cough, itching inside my ears. Then this morning I look blotchy, like I have a virus blotchy. Hoping it's the same thing, cos having this and another virus doesnt make me happy.
Managing to work just but I'm part time, also going to bed at 9pm, this never happens, I'm always 11 to midnight bed time.

NCTDN · 05/02/2024 07:45

Just to add, I felt worse than I ever did with Covid!

43ontherocksporfavor · 05/02/2024 07:47

There another whole thread on this op. We’ve had colds and cough and just got better then woke up with the most sore throat ever on Saturday. Been 3 weeks of under par now. Not tested.

PrawnDumplings · 05/02/2024 07:55

Urgh have woken up feeling the same & DH has it now 😭
