Hair dye :root touch up, can I put lighter brown shade over previously dyed dark brown?

As above I want to go lighter brown but previously used dark brown. My roots are showing quite a bit but some coverage will go over dark brown. I'm doing it myself, thank you

No, tint won’t lift tint. You need some kind of bleach, which I wouldn’t recommend doing yourself. It could be done by a hairdresser though.

The greys will be lighter brown the already dyed hair will stay darker brown. I’ve done this . Looked fine. You can go lighter gradually . Consider shorter hair too to speed up the time to transition lighter
