24 May - inset day for you?

I’m currently organizing a LEGOLAND trip and i think an inset day will be quieter. Initially, I aimed for the Friday, 7th of June inset day, but the other option is Friday, 24th of May which means we couldextend our break into half term. However, I’m concerned that many schools might share the same inset day right before half term. Do your children also have an inset day during that time?

No inset for my kids school or the school I work in.
it’ll still be quieter than any other time.

Not an inset for our local schools - East Midlands

Not an inset for mine. We went to legoland in October half term once and it was really quiet- the schools around it had a different week off so that could be worth looking at if you’re open to another month.

24th May is the Friday before a bank holiday. It will be heaving.

No inset on either of those 2 dates for either my school or the kids school.

Inset for my dc's school but not my school. I think most secondary schools will be in school as it's GCSE season so just primary schools with inset day perhaps?

Unexpecteddrivinginstructor · 04/02/2024 12:35

I think the 7th June will be quieter. Most English schools will not have half term then because secondary schools will be doing GCSEs and it trickles down to affect families with children in both primary and secondary.

I don’t imagine many secondary school pupils are going to legoland, it’s much more aimed at primary age kids surely!

OP I think the insets either side of that half term will be fairly busy. Not as busy as proper school holidays but still fairly busy. I went in early July before any local schools had broken up (except private) and it was really really busy - a friend who went the same day queued for 40 mins to get from the main road to the car park!

countdowntomexico · 04/02/2024 12:42

@modgepodge I think you're right. Going to stick to the June date and just make the loooooong journey home Sunday evening ready for school on Monday

Inset here in Derbyshire. 7th June would be better I reckon.
