If your DH cycles for a hobby

How many hours a week does he do it for?

or any other hobby really. My Dh as long as we’ve been together (a long long time) has always gone out every Saturday from 8.30 to 12/1 ish. We have now have two dc.

His view is that I am free to do the same (well equivalent) my reply is that I don’t want to as like spending time with dc at weekend, we both work ft.

is he selfish, do other partners do similar, am I a weekend doormat ?

I've also now bought an exercise machine which I'll use when he has his lunchtime runs and at weekends he's back from his run/ride.

Mine too. I don't mind though as it's his hobby, his keep fit and his happy place.

Stopping things like this is a slow decline IMO. I would let him do what he wants, you've Saturday afternoons and all day Sunday.

DH is very keen cyclist (think coast to coast in a day etc). He gets up at 5am and is back for 10.30am one day per week to then be home for a normal weekend.

He may do 1-2 events per year which take up a full day or weekend.

FWIW I think your DH of one morning per weekend is reasonable.

Ah we have this, but he goes out Sundays always has always will. To be honest we all prefer that he does this. We get all the jobs done on Saturday then Sunday mornings me and the kids relax (which he is bad at😀) and he gets his endorphin fix so is lovely to be around in the afternoon.

If the children are small, just make sure he's done his bit in giving them breakfast and bringing you a cup of tea in bed. That gets my DH a lot of brownie points!

Mine too - since the kids were babies. Does a long ride around 8-1 on Saturdays with his club then cycles to/ from work or during day if WFH the rest of the week. Also has 1-2 short breaks cycling per year with his club and the odd short ride on a Sunday if we've no other plans.

It's fine as we still have plenty of family time outside that - sat afternoons and all day Sunday plus after work in the week and holidays. I have free time to go to the gym and do stuff on my own if I want.

Keeps him fit, healthy and happy! And out of my hair 😂
