mirena removed - age 58 - period??

Has anyone got any experience of this? I had the mirena coil in for 12 years- longer than I should have probably but it caused no problems. At age 58 I thought that I had surely gone through menopause. Today (about a month later), I seem to have a period. Aren’t I too old? Any other experiences welcomed. Not sure if there is something wrong with me and I need to see a doctor.

You’re not too old necessarily, but see your GP or HRT clinician.

I am 57 and still regular and my sister is 60 and still is too 🤷‍♀️

I’d see a doc anyway, because I’d want something to stop the
periods - HRT, whatever.

No! Don't say that. Mine is due out this year, I'm 55. I haven't had periods for 16 years. I don't want to 😔

54, had 7 Yr old coil out due to spotting. Periods have come back. Gutted!
Think I'll get another one just to get rid of periods again

Fleetheart · 03/02/2024 20:04

it’s great not to have periods. I got the mirena in the first place due to horrible heavy ones. completely sorted me out- changed my life!

Same @Fleetheart
Insist they do something to stop them.

BlueRidgeMountains · 04/02/2024 16:32

That's made me reluctant to get mine removed.
