I don't have any wisdom teeth, but the last lower molar on my left side never came in. I'm in my 50s. I'm now having pain on my inner gum near the area where the last molar should be. I can feel something in the gum and it's very hard. It's definitely not an abscess. The gum is red and a bit swollen. I can feel the edge of something hard. There's nothing at all to see on the top of the gum. The next molar along was a failed root canal and was removed a few years ago.
Could this possibly be the missing molar coming through the side of my gum? It's not a wisdom tooth though. Can this happen? I'm having a further x ray done on Wednesday. The regular x rays didn't show anything.
