Ive been offered a new full time role. Im currently doing temp work as and when after taking a career break which is leaving us short on money every month. Ive hardly earnt anything since the beginning of this year

Im 6 weeks pregnant and dont know whether to accept the job or when i need to legally tell them. i know most companies dont even offer maternity if you havent been there for a year.

Money wise I would defintely take it , but not sure how i will feel during the next few months

Just how great is this job if everyone before you has already turned it down?

Dont know if they turned it down, but the lady said she couldnt fit the right match, and came back to me after a week. The only thing that wasnt a right fit for me was the office was far but she said we can work around that by the hotel option.

Good morning all,

I really need advice. I am 3 month and 1 week pregnant. I am meant to start a new job next week and due to give birth on 25th Sep. I also cancer but I can get the surgery for that whilst on maternity leave. Shall I take the job? Its once in a lifetime opportunity? I will be working just 5months when I need to go on maternity leave.

Do I tell them now?
Also, my probation period is 6 months so is it likely they will use an excuse to sack me?

Thank you so much.

If it's a dream job I'd take it and take a full year off for mat leave so you could also recover from your surgery. Just work really hard during the first 5 months to prove you were the right hire, and come in with the same energy post mat-leave.

I was nervous about telling my new employer I was 3 months pregnant but they were decent people who treated me kindly, supported me, and made the return to work pain free. Legally they can't penalise you for being pregnant, and any decent employer would be looking at you as a potential longterm hire and support you accordingly.

I was promoted twice within a year of returning from mat leave, so in a good organisation you being pregnant shouldn't negatively effect your career prospects or relationships with colleagues.

Good luck!

Thank you so much. Any advice when I should disclose it?

I disclosed 1 week before my start date, they barely batted an eyelash!
