A relative has been working for a small business for 5 years. She was never given a contract nor any payslips for the first 2 years. We did tell her to chase this but she said the employer just kept insisting it would be sorted.
Basically, 2 years into her employment they started giving her payslips and finally paying pension contributions. She asked them for the backdated ones but it never happened. Company have now stopped paying pension contributions again citing temporary problems. Contributions were deducted from wages but not put in pension pot for several months. This is the case for all employees so they have been reported.
Friend has also reported lack of contributions for the first 2 years and sent info to pensions people, but with no wage slips and/or contract, she’s not sure if this will even be able to be sorted.
Does my relative stand a chance here of getting these contributions backdated and what punishment is employer likely to get for months of no contributions for all staff, despite deducting them.
