Tight chest and cough- when to be concerned ?

My husband has been unwell all week and has not been to work which is unheard of for him

He had a bad cold last week, but it improved but nothing to major , then
Monday he started to feel poorly again, he had a temperature, cough, whole body was aching

He is still not feeling any better, his whole body aches and his chest is really tight he says

He does not smoke

Should he be seeking further medical advise ? He's hardly eaten all week and looks absolutely terrible and I'm quite concerned as he's never really one to complain unless he feels seriously ill

Yes he needs to see someone asap as he may have a chest infection secondary to the cold .. as it’s now the weekend I’d advise ringing 111

Sounds like flu tbh there’s some really nasty strains out there at the min. Rest, hydration, and something like beechams flu regularly to bring temp down, decongest & perk him up. Most if the time you have to just ride these things out & rest. I had a horrifically bad bout of flu the other week was in bed a week.

I have had similair. Bad cold in December followed by chest infection in January. On my second round of steroids and strong anti biotics and still have a horrible cough and tight chest.

I honestly think it's been covid and totally fucked my lungs but don't know

My DD has had this lately. I’ve just started her on inhalers to relieve it. He needs to see the GP.

Thank you both

There does seem to be so much going around , my mum has just had a bad chest infection which needed antibiotics and 3 other family members have been quite poorly!! Going to see how he is in the morning I think and take it from there, painkillers etc don't seem to be helping at all
