Small office space in home....help!

Hi everyone, I'm struggling to find a quiet space I can use at home to work.
I've used the sofa and the kitchen table but this just isn't working anymore.
DH works from home permanently and has an office space - he works in IT and has a load of equipment he needs to access all day. I could share some of that space but he's on a lot of meetings and I know it would drive me mad in the end.

So, has anyone found a nice little desk or something that will fit into a small space in their house? We have a fairly large entrance space which would easily take a small desk & chair but I'd want it to look halfway decent if I was going to do that. Can anyone recommend something? Has anyone got nice pics of what they've done? I really need the help!

TIA

Do you have children?
If so can you put a desk in a child's bedroom and use during the day?

Someone posted a house for sale on here and she had built herself an absolutely wicked looking cupboard office off her kitchen. So it was about eight foot long but only about three foot wide and from the outside it looked like a very cool, scandi style teeny weeny sauna with beautiful, elegant wood. In essence it was an outy cupboard rather than an inny one, if that makes sense?

But with the doors open whilst working and backing into her not tiny but not huge kitchen, it looked spacious enough.

Until recently I had a fold down desk in our large entrance.
Folded flat to go in the under stairs cupboard when not in use.

Just looked on line, there are some interesting ideas. Many based on the old bureau idea with flap down front. Dunelm do a slim corner fitting one, such a good idea , also a non corner one. Wonder if you can find a vintage bureau if that's your style?

This is an excellent idea. I worked from home for 15 years prior to Covid and had the office. When DH was forced home he’d set up on the fitted desk/dressing table in DSs room.

my office was in a loft conversion and I’d decamp there on very hot days too.

If you do have a child's bedroom to use, OP, I have one of these. It is absolutely fantastic. Converts from a bed to desk in one movement. You can leave bedding on the bed and items on the desk permanently! Studybed.co.uk I think the website is. Worth every single penny, extremely well made. Come in single, small double and double.

I think its fine to have a desk and chair in the entrance hall, but you need a cupboard where you can hide everything away after and at weekends.

Do you have any space under the stairs?

One corner of the sitting room. Laptop etc goes into bag underneath when I've finished for the week. Diary and day book etc into drawer. IKEA desk and chair.

Don't you get back and other aches with that chair set up?

A nice bureau in the hall would be good. Lovely to close it up at the end of the work day and forget about work.

It's taken me half the morning to find this link!
Last year we finally admitted we can't share a home workspace so added this small desk in a corner of the lounge. It has a screen permanently on it but keyboard, mouse etc get put away so its not intrusive all the time. We just pick up a dining chair to use with it but on the lookout for a chair that won't look out of place. Sort of like, if it has to be in the lounge it should be styled nicely with a plant and vintage lamp etc.
It's a surprisingly nice solid wood desk top with good legs that don't wobble.

DH and I spent 2yrs renovating, whilst living in a caravan and both WFH full time! It can be done.

Does the entrance hall have enough sockets for what you need plugged in? Good lighting? Would a corner desk with storage work? Or something like below which would look like regular shelves when not in use.
