Blood test show fighting infection. silly question but was does this mean? Blood test needs repeating, shows low iron also. The blood test was for my child and I immediately worry it’s something serious

Likely means either a raised white cell count or raised C-reactive protein. What is the context? Hospital or primary care?

It means their white blood cell count was elevated.

I've had this more than once over the years with 3 dc. Sometimes they had a visible virus (mild cold), at other times they appeared totally healthy. But each time they needed a repeat test in a couple of weeks just to make sure the white blood cells had dropped.

It's very common op and unlikely to be anything to worry about x

Hi Op. Have you been ill or are ill, EG flu/covid/virus etc

Who did the blood tests and have you seen them about it?

Blood tests can be slightly off for many and thankfully sorted be self but only doctors/hspt can determine often with retest,

Good luck
