Holiday accommodation with 2 bedroom. Both en suite. I double bed room and 1 twin bed room with 1 female adult, 2 children-9 yo boy and 15 yo girl. How would you allocate bedrooms?

Adult and kids in twin room assuming brother and sister?

Adult in double room

I have previously gone in with my son so my teen daughter can have more privacy. I have also made them share on other occasions and my husband would make them share ( now 15 and 12)

Assuming they’re both your children, I’d probably make them share the twin room as they’re far enough apart in age, in my opinion.

Boy in the room with double bed

Woman and 15 year old girl in the room with two single beds.

I would consider the two female members taking the twin and boy taking the double. Simply because that way everyone gets their own bed and a 15yo might prefer sharing with mum.

Or ask 15yo who she would prefer to share with?

I can see issues with a teen girl and 9 yr old boy sharing,.arguments and sulking and such.

I can't imagine a teen girl would want to share with her mum either.

For the sake of peace, I'd probably let the teen girl have the double and mum and son share twin.

Adult and girl in the twin.

Boy gets the double.

So jammy!

Marblessolveeverything · 01/02/2024 18:48

I would ensure the 15 year had privacy. So 9 year old in with I assume mum?

Teen girl in double, adult and boy in twin

Last time the teenager had the double to herself and I shared with my son in the twins beds. I'm planning on doing that again. No way they would share! Ds loves being in with me anyway. I'd rather have a bigger bed but I'm not that bothered.

Depends on the dynamics of the children.
There's about that age gap (although they're now older) between dd1 and ds, and they normally share if we don't have rooms for all three of them. Dd2 gets a room to herself almost every time. We always ask dd1 for her choice as dd2 and ds would not share if we want any peace 🤣

When ds was 9yo, I'd probably have suggested he came in with me, but equally well dd1 and ds might have wanted to be in together.
