I’ve just been quoted just under 800 pounds for home insurance is that a lot? I do have 2 inherited rings and an engagement ring added on. I only live in a small 1 bedroom flat. I have used a broker that we’ve used for years but I can’t help think it seems a lot.

That does seem like a lot, but obviously depends on things like location, flooding risk, etc.

Have a look on a comparison website to see if there are any cheaper quotes.

LuckyStone · 01/02/2024 15:50

Wow thats a rip off.

LIZS · 01/02/2024 15:50

Our quote is £300 higher than last year . Even comparison sites have not thrown up many alternatives. That is a lot for a 1 bed though.

idontlikealdi · 01/02/2024 15:55

I have the paperwork on my desk have just renewed for £358 for contents and buildings, 3 bed terrace, London.

Three named items (jewellery) and an extra bit bit for DHs bikes.

It was £338 last year.

I suppose it depends where you live in terms of risk. Mine is just over £200 for a 4 bed house.

AuntieMarys · 01/02/2024 15:57

£300 4 bedroomhouse

CelerySeller · 01/02/2024 16:01

Just over £200, 3 bed semi, London.
Go on 'mse house insurance' and follow the steps for going through the comparison sites.
There's 5/6 of them. It's a bit of a pain the first year but for subsequent years all the info is stored.

LIZS · 01/02/2024 16:03

Is that both house and contents ?

Floralnomad · 01/02/2024 16:04

Is that both house and contents ?

Yes for me

JustFrustrated · 01/02/2024 16:05

House and contents - £181.

mitogoshi · 01/02/2024 16:07

£239 for a 4 bed house, buildings and contents including inherited jewellery. But low risk area

You need to get some comparisons. I thought that our renewal was steep bit the first quite I had was double. I would say that's way too much for a one bedroom flat. When you have some new quotes phone them and see what they have to say.
