Wine

Hello. I am feeling a bit gross and am considering a detox. I have one glass of wine every night and I usually snack on rubbish in the day as I have quite a busy job. Today I am turning over a new leaf and I have put all the wine in the garage and am trying to eat well. I will only drink socially outside, once a week (max twice per week).

To keep me on track please pass on any stories where you or friends of yours may have cut out alcohol and sugary snacks and felt wonderful!! I am not overweight but hoping that this detox will also help the waistline in any event. I do often feel tired. Probably the result of a bad diet?

many thanks!

I stopped drinking completely almost a year ago and I feel great. I was drinking a lot more than a glass of wine a night though. Don’t underestimate how much that glass though will disrupt your sleep and blood sugar. I lost a stone without trying and I look younger (peri ish age). It’s made a massive difference in my mental health.

That said, do be mindful of just pushing your weekly wines to those 1-2 days a week and drinking the same, as won’t do you any good. Also consider doing 1-2 AF weekends a month. I never appreciated what a difference waking up on Saturday and Sunday feeling great and refreshed until I started doing it. Good days shouldn’t just be reserved for work days. You deserve to rest and recharge without being hungover on your days off too.
