5 year old off sick from school 4 times in 5 months

Today my 5 year old has woken with a temp and cough so I'm keeping him off school, he's not well.
He's not usually illl but since starting school he's had bug after bug and this will be the 4th occasion he's had off. Oct was a temp, December was a sickness bug, jan was a bug and now today.

Will we get in trouble for the amount of occasions? It's not like we can help it but I know if this was a job I'd have been sacked by now 🙈

You might get a (standard, not personalized) letter about attendance.
If it's all genuine, just bin it. The first winter of nursery /school is usually a bit tough in terms of illness.

I hope your son feels better soon

It's definitely all genuine, I'd send him in if it was just a snotty nose type thing but you know when your child isn't right don't you.

No it’ll be fine - 4 times in 5 months is nothing at all.

Don’t worry. If he’s ill, he’s ill. They might have an official
moan but the class teacher will probably be grateful you’re not sending in a poorly child. Kids starting school (especially those that haven’t previously been to nursery) get tons of bugs.

The first year at school is the worst: he will pick up every bug going and will bring it home to younger siblings- if he has any. That's why younger siblings are usually ok and don't get sick that often.
