Yay. I'm so happy. After years of suffering and months of trying, I have received a text message this morning to say I've been awarded pip. I'm so grateful and this will help my family massively especially my partner who supports me everyday no matter what. He works full time and helps me and our son on my worst days when I am not able. I would just like to know if anyone else is in my position and how long did it take to revive your award notice after you were notified? Sounds lame but I'm so happy and excited.

@AnxiousEveryday im so happy for you, I can only imagine the relief you are feeling.

sorry, I can’t answer your question as I don’t claim pip (although am about to start on the journey) and it’s nice to hear success stories.

i hope it arrives soon.

CherryRipe1 · 31/01/2024 10:32

Snap! Got same text today. I was shocked & grateful as I had a horrible assessment, it's meant to be very difficult to get pip with high rejection percentages. I've tried to find out from a pip forum but no reply as yet. I believe we can ring them for further info.

I'm not going to ring th m as I don't want to look desperate lol I'm so happy. My main reason for claiming was my mental health and severe anxiety and also chronic pain. So I'm so surprised. I'm interested to know what rate I will get but obviously I'm grateful for any amount.

Fantastic! Well done.

CatPancake · 31/01/2024 11:13

Ahh brilliant!

TeenDivided · 31/01/2024 11:17

DD got a text last night saying she was now going to get the mobility bit, having been turned down originally despite her needing a wheelchair most of the time. Seems her form for the tribunal did the trick, though why she was turned down originally is beyond me!

hobag82 · 31/01/2024 11:20

Now it's been awarded if you ring the number you can go through some automated options (I think it was last 4?digits of bank account) phone number etc and it will tell you when and how much your next payment is and you can usually work out what you have been awarded from that - you don't need to speak to anyone

That’s great news.

When I was awarded, 2yrs ago ish I had the payment and back pay arrive in my account before I received the letter to say I'd been awarded.

I tried the number and I didn't give any options for finding out other than waiting to speak to an advisor

Apologies - when I last called in July it gave me the option but a lot has probably changed in DWP world since then - hope you find out soon

Congratulations! So happy for you OP 😁

I'm waiting for my tribunal date, also for mental health reasons and chronic pain. Scored 0 points at first, then 4 points after mandatory reconsideration so taking it to the tribunal. I was awarded LCWRA straight away and have had so much support from my GP and the local jobcentre, but PIP is certainly much harder to get accepted for it seems.

I've heard how hard it is. Which is why I was so surprised to see that I had been awarded. Even if it's just the standard rate, feels like a bit of a result.i feel very lucky especially as it was my first time applying.

That's brilliant news. I'm delighted for you as the process is so stressful
If I remember correctly, the letter will be with you very soon, but your money often lands in your account before you get the letter( including the 3 months backpay)

uncomfortablydumb53 · 31/01/2024 15:51

There are " hidden" advantages too
Even if you are awarded standard mobility, you are eligible for half price car tax

Ooh. I did not know that. Thank you.

Not many know this

PIP
Serencwtch · 31/01/2024 18:46

You should get the payment within a month & will get it backdated from when you applied.

pointythings · 31/01/2024 19:10

DS got his letter within a few days of the text, and the money was in his account before the letter arrived, backdated to the date of the claim. He was lucky, had an excellent assessor who really got the seriousness of his situation and awarded higher rate for both first time of asking.

newnamechangeforthisone · 31/01/2024 19:53

Happy for you! What a relief! How long did it take?

I applied at the beginning of November. I had my telephone assessment on the 8th January, two weeks later they called me again asking for more information and then today I had a text to say i had been awarded. So all in all not bad. Just shy of 11 weeks.

Woofappreciationday · 31/01/2024 20:28

I think if you carry on through to the advisor on the phone number it will go through the automated system before it goes to an advisor and then you can find out that way. Thats what i did.

BellaVita · 31/01/2024 20:37

DS1’s was backdated to when he fell ill. But from start to finish it was less than two weeks. Our Specialist Social Worker filled it in for us.

Runnerduck34 · 31/01/2024 21:08

Congratulations!
DD has pip - it was transferred from DLA when she was 16 ( that may may a difference) but I was shocked it took 2 months to get the first pip payment after being sent the pip award notification letter.
Hope yours is quicker.

AnxiousEveryday · 01/02/2024 19:29

Update.
I plucked up the courage to call up and after 2 hours on hold I got through. I've been awarded standard daily living and enhanced mobility :)
I'm absolutely chuffed.
