Cleaning your Face?

I just use soap and water on my face?
Does anyone else?
Do you need to buy special products. If so what.
There's so much out there?

I cleanse and tone my face every night. I don't use anything special. Simple products are cheap and do the job. In the morning I just clean my face with soap and water.

bakewellbride · 30/01/2024 22:06

I used to be a soap and water girl but now cleanse, tone and moisturise twice a day all with the boots rose range. Cheap but still good! Would recommend.

I just use face wash in the shower in the mornings, then put some moisturiser on. If I've worn make up that day which is about once a week, I'll remove it with a face wipe before bed.

puddypud · 30/01/2024 22:25

At night I use The Inkey List oat cleansing balm or the body shop camomile cleansing butter to remove my make up, a hyaluronic acid serum, Skin & Me tret for my acne and a simple water based moisturiser. In the morning just warm water and then serum & moisturiser.

I never use soap on my face as I have sensitive skin that's easily irritated by fragrance and soaps.

Lessstressedhemum · 30/01/2024 22:53

I have unbelievably sensitive and dry skin. I use Beauty Bay Chamomile and Oat Lipid cleansing balm. It's very, very gentle but it cleanses really well. I never put soap near my face, it makes all my skin peel off!

internallydyingfromhormonalshite · 30/01/2024 22:54

Handmade soap that i get from a natural foodstore cooperative. Reusable cotton pads. Because soap is drying I'll splash my face with cool water, dab - not wipe- it dry then apply rosehip oil.

notknowledgeable · 30/01/2024 22:57

What do you mean by "gentle"? I don't think it has any meaning in this context, it is just an advertising buzzword

notknowledgeable · 30/01/2024 22:58

I have never used anything on my face

TheOneWithUnagi · 30/01/2024 23:00

Do you wear makeup?
I use Clinique take the day off oil cleanser and then a normal cleanser but this is what I need to do to stop breakouts.
If I don't wear makeup then just the cleanser
But you do you, if it works.

Boobettes · 30/01/2024 23:02

I clean my face with baby wipes and use a bit of Nivea before bed.

FunnysInLaJardin · 30/01/2024 23:04

face wash morning and night and then day or night cream. I do wear makeup

I mean that it’s something with fewer of the ingredients likely to piss off your skin. Nothing very highly perfumed for example.

FunnysInLaJardin · 30/01/2024 23:06

and all with Nivea Q10, dirt cheap and very good

Paw2024 · 30/01/2024 23:07

I use an eye makeup remover then soap and glory peaches and clean with a warm flannel
If I'm wearing SPF or heavy makeup I tend to use a cleaning balm first to make sure it's all off
I mean you need to wash your face but it's what suits you, some people prefer gel cleansers if they've more oily skin

Notsonifty50 · 30/01/2024 23:08

The only things I put on my face are water and E45. People tell me I look younger than I am.

EverySporkIsSacred · 30/01/2024 23:13

Just water unless I've used make-up or sun screen in which case I use sensitive wipes, micellar water or an unscented mild face wash. Because soap makes my skin flakey and itchy. If it didn't I'd be happy to just use that.

Fraaahnces · 30/01/2024 23:18

I have very sensitive skin, so never found a soap that did it for me. (Can’t use soap anywhere in fact.) I would if I could! Millions of years ago I worked with lots of Japanese and Korean ladies (fragrance industry) who were significantly older than me and had the most sublime skin. They taught me about oil cleansing and the wonders of J&K sunscreens) and I am forever grateful. I am now in my 50’s and my skin is excellent for my age. (I live in Australia, so sun damage is greater risk to skin than anything else but I would never go to sleep with it on my face.)

LlamaDuke · 30/01/2024 23:21

I use a fairly cheap micellar water suitable for sensitive skin (Garnier) then follow with Caudalie serum, under eye cream and moisturiser. I used to use a foaming face wash, but found it more drying for the skin as I got older.

CupOfCoffeeandaPineappleChunk · 30/01/2024 23:54

Superdrig microfiber cloths (pink and white in a box) with Just warm water on. They've absolutley been a game changer for me. Remove every scrap of make up really easily and have vastly improved my skin quality as a result. Just sick them in the washing machine with your normal load after they've been used. Several people I know have now switched to them and all are convinced.

SirenSays · 31/01/2024 00:00

Tatcha camellia cleansing oil and the dewy skin cream

Mirrormeback · 31/01/2024 11:22

Sure soap and water will do it

berrysherry · 31/01/2024 11:24

I double cleanse my face at night once with an oil based balm then with a non foaming cleanser. My skin is very clean but not stripped. I do not wash my face in the am.

dottypotter · 01/02/2024 00:07

I don't wear make up and only use water and swap. Does it matter?
