Oh gosh, lol, skidded off the chair once many decades ago also and fell down right at my whole bum, all women office ( call centre). They laughed their heads off but I was the number one person entertaining them anyway so, it was a nice little event

When working at a retirement complex I fell, literally head over heels, somersaulting over and over, down a whole flight of stairs. Miraculously didn't do any real harm, bar a few bruises. Was helped up by one of the lovely residents who lived on the floor I had fallen from as she heard the thuds from inside her flat and came out to see what all the commotion was about. Rather embarrassing but she was sweet and kind, and her concern, rather than the fall itself made me cry.

Genuinely could not believe my luck in not being seriously injured. Made an appointment with a solicitor and made my will the following week.

(I am a serial faller but that was by far the most spectacular one!)

Incident 1: slipped on the ice in the car park

Incident 2: tripped up the stairs and face planted the ground

Incident 3: Went to plug my laptop in under the desk, the chair wheeled out from under me and I went face first into the waste paper bin, giving everyone an eyeful of my gusset

Yes. Was working in a shop and a customer smashed a bottle of lemonade. I stood by the spillage whilst male manager went off to get a cleaning kit.

He came back and proceeded to sweep up the glass shards before trotting off again to get a mop.

I noticed 4 quite large glass shards so knelt down and carefully picked them up. I'd picked up the last when manager appears back again with mop and bucket, standing right in front of me.

I was on my haunches and I went to stand up, lost my balance and landed head first on his penis basically.

So that was great

I slipped in some spilt lube when working in a&e and slid the length of majors before being helped up by a drunk patient

This week? No. But most weeks, yes. My best one was when a woman called me into her delivery room to say her waters had gone. She was very nervous so I wanted to get in there quickly for reassurance, and I did my best purposeful yet reassuring bustle into the room, slipped in the waters and basically ended up doing accidental jump splits in the middle of the delivery room, splitting my scrub pants and covering myself in amniotic fluid.

On the plus side, the woman in labour laughed so hard the baby practically shot out on its own, and it definitely cured her nerves. On the down side, it was the start of my shift, and I'd got the last pair of scrub pants in my size. Also, I can't do the bloody splits. I was walking like John Wayne for about a month!!

A colleague fell over, just tripped over her feet or something, at work. Unfortunately we worked in a care home so had a whole load of paperwork to fill in after a fall, to try to spot patterns eg. with particular individuals needing more support, or trip hazards etc.

The falls forms were kept in a big folder organised by the residents' room numbers and as my colleague obviously didn't have a room, her from was kept at the very front of the folder for a year. So reminded everyone of the incident any time they had to fill in, or check, falls paperwork!

Yep. Got my foot tangled in some leads under my desk. Huge open plan office too. Mortifying! And I hurt my knee.

PosyPrettyToes · 30/01/2024 20:33

@Wowzel If we work in the same Trust we could start a comedy double act.....

No but I did walk into a big metal gate one morning and cut my head open. They had to take me to the local walk-in clinic and get me patched up when I walked into the building with blood running down my face.

largeprintagathachristie · 30/01/2024 20:37

I somehow fell THROUGH a folding chair, which I had unwisely stood on at a massive work event.
The CEO was of course right there and had to extricate me.

Twice . Once tripped over the door step and face planted. Looked like I'd done a few rounds with Mike Tyson for weeks .

Another time was walking over a plank of wood over a ditch - plank toppled and took me with it . My entire shift was there and pissed themselves laughing. It was at a garage and the owner picked me up like a rag doll and put me back on my feet . I still have the scar on my shin !

Yes, diabetic and had a low blood sugar twice. Once just sat on the ground. Still very senior and respected.

A nurse, trying to put my dd at ease ahead of a hospital appointment, told my dd about how she fell down the stairs at home wearing just a bathrobe. One of her legs got caught in the bannisters and the other one was at an unhealthy right angle up the wall. She was in agony and unable to move at all. Her DH called an ambulance and was advised not to try and move her until they got there. Just at that moment her FIL arrived to drop something off and the nurse panicked about her state of undress so asked her DH to find something to cover herself. He put a tea towel over her but it didn’t do anything to stop her FIL seeing his DIL lying legs akimbo with the bathrobe hiding nothing! I think I would have emigrated!
