oral rehydration sachets?

eandz13 · 28/01/2024 19:44

Ice pops (or whatever you call them where you're from), fruit pastels and vimto make your vomit taste nicer (still not nice, but nicer). Sip water, don't glug.
It's usually over within 24 hours, it's bloody awful though. Godspeed!

2024horizons · 28/01/2024 19:45

24 hours 🙏🙏🙏

Just teaspoons of water / rehydration drink at a time. Seems like nothing but a teaspoon every couple of minutes will be absorbed better than glugs.
Hope you feel better very soon soon

Can you drip water into your mouth with a calpol syringe very slowly?

LillyLeaf · 28/01/2024 20:03

I've just had it, bloody awful. Just tiny sips. The throwing up doesn't last too long, 'only' 12hrs but felt rotten for 2 days. I could hardly drink and I survived.

QuestionableMouse · 28/01/2024 20:04

Flat red coke usually helps me!

FrankieLet · 28/01/2024 20:06

All you can do is just get through it. No special advice from me unfortunately. We just had it and it was horrendous. 24-48 hours of vomiting for all 5 of us, followed by another 7-10 days of stomach cramps and nausea for 2 of us.

SallySilly · 28/01/2024 20:16

Our entire family went down with norovirus in December over the course of a week. It was genuinely horrendous and unlike any other sickness bug we have ever had. It took a week for me to feel better and return to normal eating habits. I was sensitive to caffeine for weeks afterwards. Take it slow, keep your fluid intake up even if you don't keep water down and take time to recover.

Thanks everyone.

Any tips for pain? Skin is aching. Probably going to be sick again soon, actually been a few hours which is a miracle.

Not been sick since maybe 1am. I think I am going to have a liquid diet for a week. Soup and fruit. I did that when I had Covid.

Spoke to 111 and they prescribed some anti sickness. I am away and have to travel :(.

I also have three hours to write an update for a meeting I am not going to be able to attend. Feels like the most mammoth mental task. If start now can do it then go back to sleep.

The BRAT diet might help. Why do you have to travel? You'll still be contagious.

Woke up at 12pm and felt better! No headache. Literally eaten grapes and melon and a few months of soup since Sunday. Think what helped was a very dark room last night, had a solid 9.5 hours sleep. My stomach is still sore and gurgly. Going to explore porridge.
